Boxing training
Why I need boxing training in my work schedule.
Monday morning. A whole host of work priorities this morning meant I was stuck in front of the computer. Before I knew – I’d been sitting there for 4 hours. I was in the office alone this morning, so no distractions, chatting, tea breaks etc. I was fixed staring at the screen. I’d slipped back into my old ways – barely moving for hours on end. No wonder I had a headache and my eyes were strained.
I dispelled another myth today. Just because you have a headache doesn’t necessarily mean you should reach for painkillers or have lie down. 2 minutes of skipping in the fresh air and my headache was gone. Moments later the boxing gloves are on and I’m starting Technique 1 (The Basics) and smashing away at the heavy bag. I went from feeling tired and ill – to a throwing a > one-two > left hook > right cross combination (repeatedly). Bit of a turnaround.
So in my 8th week I’m glad to have developed the ‘habit’ of exercise. My garage has become the ‘go to’ place for a boxing training workout.
Cheers, John.
P.S. How about this for some ‘extreme jump rope?’ in my back garden. Yesterday winter made a return. We went from sunshine to rain, from wind to snow. Only in Scotland can you get sunburn and frost bite on the same day!
Cheers, John
