Ultimate Punch Bag Workout
It’s the penultimate workout of the Ultimate Punch Bag Workout. Nearly 9 weeks boxing training and it’s perhaps worth taking a quick look back to Day 1. I was overweight, unfit and wondering what I’d let myself in for. That completely exhausted expression was a familiar one for at least the first few weeks. Dazed and confused wasn’t an overstatement!
I’ve now been through all 8 workouts in the program. 8 different punch bag workouts 4 x ‘Technique’ and 4 x ‘Power & Speed’. For me, all the workout began as a serious physical challenge. But although tough from the outset, as the weeks past I got used to the routines and I coped a lot better. They weren’t easier but I now had time to focus on each punch and exercise to exert maximum energy. Boxing training is all about what to put into it.
I started ‘Corney’s 12 Round Challenge’ with a slightly different mindset to Day 1. I knew it would be hard but I felt more confident. Wrong! I’m in bits again. Although it’s a compilation of all the boxing moves I’ve been practising in the previous 9 weeks – they are 12 carefully selected Rounds of the most challenging ones. Plus only 30 seconds recovery time between Rounds – that makes a big difference.
So, I’m happy to say there’s no let up. It doesn’t get easier or become boring. Corney’s final challenge is a ‘not so gentle’ reminder to say – “You’ve done well John but don’t think you can relax – training like a boxer is a serious business.”
Until tomorrow. Cheers, John.
