Boxing Gel Wraps
Day 9 – Power & Speed 1
Today was a big test for me. I worked late and my head was buzzing when I got to bed. I couldn’t sleep. So, I wasn’t feeling in tip-top condition at 06.45am when the alarm sounded. I peered out the window to be greeted by a thick white frost – it will be nice and chilly in the garage this morning! If I didn’t get out there sharp and get started – I knew I’d talk myself out of it.
Once I began the dynamic stretches and got warmed up with skipping – all was good with the world. Sure, I wasn’t in the best frame of mind, and didn’t exactly feel a million dollars. But I would have felt much worse for ducking out. It felt really good pushing forward with the 2 head hooks in Round 7.
I’m treating the workouts as part of my job description. Staying healthy is just as important as any other part of my work. And sometimes you just need to get it done! – even if you’re not completely over-the-moon about it at the time.
P.S. Sorry if this offends the boxing purists but I’ve given up with wraps. The short story is – I’m too impatient. So, I bought some boxing gel wraps, like a glove, these have 2 velcro straps and feel pretty tight and plenty of wrist support. I’ll let you know my thoughts in future posts.
I’ve also bought some interlocking floor mats for the garage. It’s a bit more comfortable for those ‘sixer crunches’ underneath the bag. Not the best quality but cheap enough on eBay and will do the job.
Cheers, John.
