Boxing Workout
I had a great boxing workout today – you would think the workouts would get easier week after week, but it turns out you just try harder! I think the picture of me dripping in sweat is testament to that. 🙂
I’m definitely managing to fit more combinations in during the round times and I’m punching harder with each technique. I’m feeling lighter on my feet, so my movement has also improved – which is a great bonus.
Today I concentrated on mixing up my power and speed within the different combinations. For instance, in the video I start by just trying to add power to the left head hooks. When the body hook is added I change it up on some of them – so I’m hitting light and fast up top then making the body shot the hard punch.
I could still do with working more on my technique, but I think I’ve definitely got better. Although the first uppercut I try, I think I get a bit carried away and lose my balance – heh, heh.
It’s the Power and Speed 4 boxing workout tomorrow and the dreaded stance jumps, I’m looking forward to it though. It’s been a blur the past 2 weeks because the workouts are constantly changing, but it’s been really good cementing in the different techniques and combos.
It’s not too late for you to join in on the fun, just go to www.FightYourselfFit.com and download the workouts. John and I will be starting on round 2 of the program a few weeks after we’ve finished this one – we are determined (even in our old ages) to get our ab’s showing, get quicker, add more power and get our techniques even sharper… Fighting yourself fit really is the most fun I’ve had shaping up – and I’m improving my boxing skills daily, you can’t ask more than that. 🙂
Cheers, Steve
