It was Technique Workout 3 “Long Range” today. In Round 4 we do a combination that includes a jab to the body, so I thought I would pop this helpful video up that demonstrates how it’s done properly.
I was aching a bit from yesterday (I think I may have well been a bit too enthusiastic – that’ll learn me :-). But it was great to get back into techniques today and concentrate on the finer points of certain combinations.
As a natural left hander who fights from an Orthodox stance, it has taken me a long time to be able to generate any decent power in my right hand. It’s amazing how punching a bag every weekday has really seen my punching power increase with leaps and bounds… but there is a downside! My bag is now too light – it’s only around 30kg anyway, so my new plan is to get another 20kg of rags/material – I’m sure my kids and wife won’t notice a few missing clothing items – it’s all in a good cause. 🙂
As I promised a few posts ago, I’ve been increasing the 7 to 1 exercise at the end of the technique workouts. For the last 2 weeks I’ve been doing 8 to 1 and this week it was time to step it up again to 9 to 1 – it really does make a hell of a difference but I’m determined to get to 10 to 1 by the last week… nearly there!
