Day 36 – Protein! Protein?

More Protein

more protein

I need more protein!

I’m back “on it” today after an excellent restful weekend. Everything’s going great, I feel fitter, recover faster, punch harder, and my fat is literally melting away.

I’m think I’m fast approaching the point where there won’t be much more fat to lose. So now it’s time for me re-look at my diet.

So far I’ve been eating healthy meals with a daily calorie deficit to strip the fat fast. I’ve made sure I’ve included about 50 to 60 grams of protein a day to prevent loss of muscle mass, but these kinds of calculations aren’t always exact and I think it’s hard not to lose any muscle when trying to shed the pounds (but I’m trying my best not to!).

For me I think it’s time to review my protein intake to ensure my body is getting enough protein for my muscles to recover, heal and grow. I’m not thinking of doing anything drastic, just adding more protein to about 90 to 100 grams a day – which I can do easily by eating more chicken. No trouble there!

I will keep an eye on my measurements over the next few weeks to see how this works for me.

Keep you posted….

Right, moving on from protein to boxing – and today’s workout…..

Technique Workout 3 – “Long range”
Well here in the UK we have an apparent 3 day heat wave – I’m guessing in some parts of the world people wouldn’t actually think it is that hot – but it got up to 21 degrees today (which is hot for us this time of year).

So, I’m excited, the beach weather is coming early – unfortunately the downside is the increased amount of sweat I produced – ok, it’s not scorching hot, but it didn’t half make this workout harder than normal.

That being said – I really enjoyed it today, in fact I love training on Mondays (something I never thought I would say) It’s definitely the day where I am punching and training at my hardest because of the recovery days at the weekend.

Back to Power & Speed 4 tomorrow – I’m looking forward to it, but I think I’m going to need some 80’s sweatbands at this rate. 🙂

Cheers, Steve.

Have you tried adding more protein?  Add any questions below and we’ll forward them to Cornelius.
