My Boxing Coach
Pictured above is Cornelius Carr – former middleweight champion and now a boxing coach explaining the ‘Boxing Jab’ via the iPad. He’s much taller in real life!
The Boxing Technique ‘Help Video’ – is an extra 20-minute video that comes with the ‘Fight Yourself Fit’ program, where Corney breaks down each boxing technique – giving you a foundation to use during the workouts.
Last night I finally transferred the ‘Help Video’ to the iPad. I needed to watch it again (and again) in a calm relaxed place – extra study away from my home gym (well, my garage). Sometimes when you’re gasping for breath and covered in sweat it perhaps isn’t the best moment to learn the finer points of the sneak punch. I’m the type of person who needs to stop and think, to try out new techniques on my own – my own time and space.
It’s odd to think I’ve got this far (and of course a long way to go) – and yet not set foot in a boxing gym.
Power & Speed 4
I’ll be brief – only because my arms are really aching and I’m not sure how much more I’ll be able to write! I said last week Power & Speed 3 was the toughest workout. I was wrong. Number 4 is the toughest of them all. It seems logical, what else was I expecting? It’s the last workout in the program, of course it will be hard.
Right now, my body is in bits (in a good way, jeez in my predicament I don’t need easy). To be fair I probably didn’t help myself during my regular pre-workout skipping. I went up a notch, added 20% more jumps, did them faster and went on longer before breaks.
There was some crazy new stuff to learn in todays workout. New exercises I’ve not heard of, let alone tried.
Round-the-Clock Press Ups
Split Stance Jumps
V Sit-Ups
Oblique Leg Lifts
Dorsal Raises
And loads of punch bag combinations too!
My 5th week and it’s not letting me off the hook yet. Far from it – the bar has been raised – and some more. The boxing challenge continues but the results aren’t far behind 🙂
Cheers, John.
