Punch bag workout – Okay, here we go again! Day 2. I’m seriously aching all over from Day 1, particularly my shoulders. Even now, 24 hours later I feel it! I slept like a baby though – from a different type of tiredness I guess. Not eye-strain or stress – just pure physical fatigue!
Day 2 – Power & Speed 1
Okay, today’s punch bag workout felt a little less complex technically but there was a good variety – and it certainly ramped up the intensity – I liked it! I’m slightly worried what the neighbours are thinking about some of the sounds coming my garage. My wife says I sound like a dying animal or someone’s murdering me. She’s not far off the mark.
The different rounds come thick and fast, and at this early stage I’m just focusing on keeping up. But I like how Corney returns to repeat the moves through the workout, in the end you get 2 or 3 separate goes at them. Each time I got the hang of it a bit more.
Things I’ve learnt a lot about myself;
1. Skipping (Jump Rope) I can’t skip to save my life! I’m probably jumping too high, making it too difficult for myself, but there’s a lot of weight to get off the ground! But jeez, skipping must be the most effective way to get out-of-breath. I was grasping for breath. If I can get the rhythm right, I know this could be a important exercise for me. I have a feeling I’ll get the practice. The belly is wobbling big time.
2. Press Ups My press ups leave a lot to be desired. I can barely do 1, maybe 2. My arms just aren’t strong enough to take the strain. Press ups have always seemed a bridge too far for me. If I can do proper press ups at the end of the 60 days, I’ll be a happy man.
3. Shadow Boxing Even though I’m completely out of shape – I never thought I could be tired from 2 minutes of ‘shadow boxing’! Adding the ‘sit down’ to the one-two was good, it’s felt like proper boxing skills lesson right from the off.
My really ‘simple’ tip
Remember when your mum used to nag you to get your school stuff ready the night before? So in the morning you’d be all ready to go – with no panicking at the last minute?
Well, mum was right.
I’m determined to be well prepared during this punch bag workout program, purely because being organised will help to make me actually do it. There’s nothing worse than getting psyched up for the workout, and then hunting around the house trying to find your wraps, shoes or realise the iPad isn’t charged. I’m the type of character that could use any delay or obstacle – as an excuse to not doing it.
I really want to feel positive and pumped up about doing the workout, not another thing to be stressed about. So – clothes, equipment, drink – ready and waiting. This is going to be real tough. I’ll need to right mindset.
