Day 12 – Good News & Bad News

Here’s me hanging – that’s not a smile it’s a grimace of pain whilst I wait for my wife to workout how to use the bloody camera.

Anyway photo-shoot awkwardly done, now onto the workout for today –
Technique Workout 2 – Off the Jab.

To be honest I’m glad that’s done, it seemed like a real struggle. I think all the workouts have caught up with me today and the 7 to 1 at the end nearly broke me – but I prevailed and I’m still standing.. just!

The Bad News..

So the bad news is, my little side challenge of chin-ups is appalling, I’m still only managing an extra 1 every other day, so I decided I will stop taking about it and wow you at the end when I can do at least 5 in a row!

The Good News..

…is, Fight Yourself Fit is working for me on many levels.

Fitness
I’m feeling much fitter – as I said yesterday my recovery time is getting so much quicker with each workout.

Weight Loss
I’ve lost just under 6lb’s in 2 weeks
(2 to 3lbs a week is my goal). I am so happy that the fat is shifting. I try not to look at the scales too much as I find it can be demotivating, so I will weigh in again properly in 2 weeks time. Plus for me personally I find it better to look in the mirror to see how my shape is changing.

Power
More importantly my punches feel so much stronger. As a natural left hander who boxes from the Orthodox stance I often find power lacking in my right cross and right hook. I can feel a real difference since starting the workouts and I’m looking forward to seeing how hard I can punch in a few weeks time.

Technique
I’m spending a lot more time on boxing techniques I may well have overlooked if I was training by myself. We all like to throw in combo’s we know or really enjoy throwing. Without the workout structure I truly believe I would have missed out on training a lot of key boxing techniques.

I’m really happy how it’s going so far and I’m looking forward to the new workouts next week.

Have a good weekend everybody.

Cheers, Steve.

Are you using the heavy bag in your boxing training? having trouble with any boxing techniques?  We’d love to hear from you!
