Learn Boxing

Another day and another ‘new’ workout!
Yesterday, Technique 2 (Off the Jab) felt very much like a proper ‘boxing lesson’ – with more complex combinations to learn. Today was the début of Power & Speed 2. As the title suggests it was all about ‘Power & Speed’. I liked it. It was a case of knuckling down, keeping up with the pace – and putting in the maximum effort possible.
You’ll enjoy Round 7 – One, two > hard left hook. Then double jab > hard right cross. And repeat. But I won’t go there with my press ups. There’s still a lot of room for improvement.
As I mentioned in my introduction after visiting the doctor, amongst other things, my blood pressure measured 151/110. Although not a total surprise, I was not happy with myself. I’m not making any medical claims here but this evening it was 121/81. Whether it’s down to exercise, diet (or both) – I’ll take those stats any day.
I’m the type of person that needs motivating, in fact quite often I need a kick. I think it’s easy to overlook the importance of someone fighting your corner – shouting encouragement, pushing you further, in affect making it harder for you to think “I’m not up for it today, I’m going to give up”. I need a coach – to get going, and keep going.
Here’s a direct quote from Corney at the end of the workout.
All about consistency, you’ve got to keep doing it, doing it, doing it – and eventually you’re going to get there – your fitness is going to improve, your power is to improve, your speed is going to improve.
Cheers, John.
