Boxing Training
I really do need to move that pool table to improve my photos and if anyone spies the Zumba dvd box, it’s not mine!
Boxing Training – Technique Workout 2 – “Off the Jab”
Another good boxing training session today and my 2nd time of doing Tech Workout 2. In this workout we get introduced to the sneak punch (or screw shot). It’s a great punch for catching your opponent off guard and one I’ve used many times in sparring to great effect – if you want to know a little more about the sneak punch here’s a link to tell you all about it 🙂 – more about the sneak punch
We also get to start using the lead hook and I loved training that today. I always used to flick the lead hook out after my jab and before powering in the cross (another good one for sparring). Today it was good to practice both flicking it out quickly and also thumping in a solid lead hook as well. I found just rotating into a slight left slip after the jab allowed me to generate a lot more power than usual – you can’t beat the feeling of hitting the bag sweetly with good technique.
In Tech Workout 1 we get 5 to 1 – in Tech Workout 2 it bumps up to 7 to 1 – and it makes one heck of a difference, I really was breathing out of places I didn’t know I could breath from today… But another workout complete bring on Power & Speed 2 tomorrow.
Extra Challenge
It’s not part of the 60-day program, but every Monday, Wednesday and Friday I will be trying to more and more chin-ups.
Not even going to comment!
Set 1 – 5 chin-ups!
Set 2 -3 chin-ups!!
Set 3 – 4 chin-ups!
Cheers, Steve.
